FOR HOW MUCH? Faceless ....distorted fingers reaching out to the skies... spinning coins on the ground... Is there a greater cost to the goods we buy and consume? Is there aprice others have to pay? Originally commissioned by the International Organisation for Migration U.K. (IOM) as part of their Buy Responsibly campaign and the support of Accademia Apulia UK, this dance theatre piece takes inspiration from the lives of the people who have worked under forced labour in India, Africa, South America and parts of Europe and from the sculptures by London-based artist May Ayres and her critique of consumerism and capitalism.

About the Campaign Buy Responsibly: The campaign's main focus is to raise awareness about human trafficking for forced labour practices and how our consumer choices affect the livelihoods of others. The themes in 'For How Much?' also touch upon extreme cases of forced social displacement that I feel would resonate with the history of London as a focal point of immigrant settlement, and its multicultural community today.

About sculptures by London-based artist May Ayres, presented at her exhibition God’s Wars:
The works explore human apathy towards everything except one's own interests and material comforts, aggression, entrapment generated by our capitalist society and human discomfort and pain.

Reviews
"A powerful and deeply human choreography, performed with energy and emotion, For How Much? is thought-provoking and moving." www.londondance.com

"The juxtaposition of the comical and the sinister running side by side throughout this work is used to great effect [...] Andy Higgs’ accompaniment to this, both live and recorded, is beautiful. [...] a fluid and feminine quintet displays further sensitive choreography by Annarita Mazzilli."
Cloud Dance Festival Reviews

"With a carefully dressed set, a mixture of live and recorded music and a diverse cast of varying fields of expertise, Mazzili Dance Theatre created a piece that was moving and uplifting, yet poignant and thought-provoking at the same time."
