Shades of Change
Is a 70 minutes long dance production commissioned by China Performing Arts Agency (CPAA), Shandong Grand Theatre and Shandong Arts Academy (Jinan - China). The choreography is a unique blend of Chinese traditional philosophy and contemporary modern dance. 'Shades of Change' is a dance performance inspired by the Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang and the five elements (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal) from the book 'Zhouyi' (Book of Changes). This, is an ancient Chinese divination text and the oldest of the Chinese classics for studying the order and rhythm of nature of the universe. The choreography explores the idea of "harmony" and reflects on Zhouyi's statement "Heaven and man are united as one to reach a state of balance". In the world of Yin Yang, five elements of Eight Trigrams represent a kind of revival of the everyday life in our lives. As the narrative of the dance unfolds, the audience goes on a journey between dream and reality and between conflict and harmony. |
