One Step Closer to the Stage
Mazzilli Dance Theatre will bring their latest production to your College/institution for one day workshop/audition.
Aim and objectives:
One Step Closer to the Stage seeks to provide artistic and training opportunities for young dancers/ actors that are about to leave education. Students in their final year of training will be able to participate in a workshop based on the piece and experience processes related to the dance and theatre industry from the auditioning and rehearsal process to the actual production of a professional work. The workshop will run in an audition format; at the end of which a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 5 students will be selected to take part in the rehearsal process and possibly perform in Mazzilli Dance Theatre current production.

Mazzilli Dance Theatre produces dance-theatre productions and therefore, the workshop is ideal not only for dance students but also for theatre students that would like to explore their physicality and their performance skills as well as working with costumes and props. Moreover, they will be able to improvise/explore around the themes of the piece.
This will be a very good opportunity to publicize the training you provide as the details of your institution together with the names of the selected students will be mentioned in the production program and in the collateral material.
Main Objectives:
- Provide young dancers/actors professional performance opportunity/experience
- Develop skills and attitude needed in an audition situation
- Provide students opportunities for self-evaluation and discussion with a professional choreographer, peers and tutors
- Prepare students for the industry by creating a bridge between their training experience and the professional industry they are about to enter.
- Gain an insight into dance-theatre choreographic devices (Use of props).
This will be achieved by:
1 A workshop/Audition, based on the current production lead by the choreographer and dancers which will include:
- A warm up class
- Rep
- Creative tasks
- Individual solos/monologues
- Feedback session
2 Students will be selected from the workshop/audition
- Selected students (a minimum of 2 max 5) will take part in the rehearsals process with the choreographer and the company members (Rehearsals and show- final dates TBC)
- Selected students will perform the piece (the company/choreographer reserves the rights to stop learners from performing if they have not shown a professional level of commitment and work attitude during the rehearsal process)
- The possibility for selected students to be involved in future productions of the company
3 Group discount tickets to the show for students that have attended the workshop
4 As for the institution, this will be a very good opportunity to publicize the training you provide as the details of your institution together with the names of the selected students will be mentioned in the production program and in the collateral material.

It is important for students to gain firsthand experience of what awaits them when leaving their training institution. This type of workshop will provide students invaluable opportunity to be in audition situation for a dance/theatre company. The one-to-one session with the choreographer will also help them reflect on their experience and existing skills as well as bridging the gap between being training and working in the profession.
The chosen students will be able to work in a professional production with a professional team.
Participating in the workshop could be a good starting point for reflection and provide research material for coursework/projects they are currently undertaking.

4hrs workshop/audition (please note that a live performance of the piece at your institution can also be arranged).
