Mazzilli Dance Theatre has been invited to perform its latest production ‘For How Much?’ at the International Dance Festival in Beijing (China). We need your help to raise money to cover the cost of performers’ flights and visas (9 people).

The Festival will provide local production for the performance including the venue, publicity and ticketing, as well as local hospitality, including hotel accommodation, local transportation and a fee for teaching in the Dance Camp (Which will cover only the cost of one flight).

About the Festival:
The Beijing Dance Festival is an international dance festival held annually in Beijing, China. Dance Camp, as part of the festival, will take place from July 14-20 (MDT will be teaching classes during the Dance Camp)

About the work and Mazzilli Dance Theatre:
‘For How Much?’ is choreographed by Annarita Mazzilli with original score by composer Andy Higgs.

Using a mixture of live and recorded music this dance theatre piece raises questions about human trafficking for forced labour, and how what we buy affects the lives of others. Originally commissioned by the International Organization for Migration U.K. (IOM) as part of their Buy Responsibly campaign, this piece takes inspiration from the lives of the people who have worked under forced labour in India, Africa, South America and parts of Europe and from the sculptures by London-based artist May Ayres and her critique of consumerism and capitalism.

The work has been already successfully performed at The Blue Elephant Theatre, the Belfry (St John on Bethnal Green) and at The Place Theatre.

"A powerful and deeply human choreography, performed with energy and emotion, For How Much? is thought-provoking and moving." London Dance

The piece has been supported by ‘One Billion Rising Festival’

Mazzilli Dance Theatre would like to thank all the friends, people and organizations that have supported our work up to this point and also would like to thank in advance all the ones that will allow us with their contribution to participate at the Beijing Dance Festival. We really need your help and any penny counts.

After been supported by One Billion Rising UK and perform within their initiatives with our latest production 'For How Much?'
Mazzilli Dance Theatre is now taking part in V-Day’s 15th Anniversary, 14 February 2013 London.

ONE BILLION women and those who love them to WALK OUT, DANCE, RISE UP, and DEMAND an end to this violence. ONE BILLION RISING will move the earth, activating women and men across every country. V-Day wants the world to see our collective strength, our numbers, our solidarity across borders.

What does ONE BILLION look like? On 14 February 2013, it will look like a REVOLUTION.

ONE BILLION RISING IS:

A global strike
An invitation to dance
A call to men and women to refuse to participate in the status quo until rape and rape culture ends
An act of solidarity, demonstrating to women the commonality of their struggles and their power in numbers
A refusal to accept violence against women and girls as a given
A new time and a new way of being
