Trinity Laban alumnus, Annarita Mazzilli, has been featured in The Space’s annual Emerge Festival this November.
Set up as a platform for emerging artists, the Emerge Festival aims to bring new works by up and coming choreographers.
Italian born Annarita joined Transitions Dance Company in 2006 and has studied with such choreographers as Crystal Pite, Janet Smith, Thomas Small and David Hughes. Since obtaining her MA in Dance Performance at Trinity Laban, Annarita has performed at many venues including the 02 Arena, Sadler’s Wells and The Place. In 2011, Annarita set up the Mazzilli dance theatre. The company’s work in the Emerge Festival last week, Trail Tale, was inspired by Luis Sepúlveda’s bookThe Story of a Snail who Discovered the Importance of Being Slow and is a playful duet which looks at journeying, growth and solidarity.
Annarita says: “Looking back at my time at Trinity Laban, I can confidently say that my dance and performance skills were nurtured, and most importantly I was allowed to grow as an artist within a professional environment. The teaching team was extremely supportive and it was great to work with professional choreographers. I would recommend the MA course to any young dancer.
